MakeMyTrip to Acquire Majority Stake in Flamingo Transworld to Expand Holiday Packages Business

India’s leading online travel company MakeMyTrip has announced plans to acquire a majority stake in regional tour operator Flamingo Transworld, marking a strategic move to strengthen its holiday packages segment and expand its reach across key travel markets in India.

The acquisition, announced on March 5, 2026, aims to combine MakeMyTrip’s strong digital travel platform with Flamingo’s well-established group tour operations. Flamingo Transworld has built a strong reputation over the past three decades for organizing curated domestic and international group tours, particularly in regional markets such as Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.

Flamingo is known for offering travel experiences tailored for Indian travelers, including tours with Indian chefs, vegetarian and Jain meal options, and regional-language tour managers. These features have helped the company build strong loyalty among customers who prefer culturally familiar travel experiences while exploring global destinations.

Through this partnership, MakeMyTrip plans to leverage Flamingo’s regional expertise and extensive network of more than 50 offices to strengthen its holiday packages portfolio and expand its presence in regional travel markets across India.

According to company leadership, the integration of Flamingo’s curated group tour services with MakeMyTrip’s nationwide digital platform will create new opportunities to reach a larger customer base and offer a wider range of holiday packages. The move is part of MakeMyTrip’s broader strategy to build a comprehensive travel ecosystem that includes flights, hotels, transportation, and packaged holidays.
